Job Description:
We are looking for a Insurance Broker, Placement Lead who will have a rare opportunity to scale the insurance program placement function over the next 12 months and well beyond. Working side-by-side with the founding team, this person will be a key contributor to turning Koop into a go-to brand for thousands of startup insurance customers. Specifically, the candidate will:
- Deeply understand insurance needs of tech companies across a variety of industries
- Solve customers’ insurance challenges and help them reduce their risk with compliance
- Consult customers on various insurance products, including but not limited to General Liability, Errors & Omissions, Cyber Liability, and Management Liability
- Place various lines of business with in-house insurance programs and open market products
- Provide ongoing customer service and fulfill demanding customer requests
- Work with a proprietary policy management and underwriting platform
- Help with establishing and maintaining new insurance distribution channels
- Meet insurance KPIs across the customer base
- Work with cross-functional teams in Marketing, Sales, Products, and Operations
- Report to and work closely with the C-Suite of the company
- Represent Koop Technologies and own the emerging risks narratives
You will join a team of product builders, software engineers, quantitative modelers, insurance professionals, and emerging risks visionaries, all bound together by an incredible drive to define, build, and scale a powerful regulatory readiness platform.
Job Requirements:
- Active insurance producer license or an ability to obtain one
- Strong understanding of the insurance brokerage and MGA markets
- Experience in successfully scaling insurance products across various distribution channels
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and produce new business independently
- Demonstrated ability to serve complex customer and broker partner problems and requests
- Ability to learn technical concepts and terms quickly and use them in customer engagements
- Ability to keep a sharp focus on the priority deliverables
- Founder mindset, tremendous work ethic, and excellent written/verbal skills
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience at an insurance technology company, brokerage, or MGA in a mid-to-senior-level distribution role with a history of successfully building books of business
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Arts, Science, or related academic fields
- Excellent organization, time management, and project management skills
- Excellent sales and product marketing skills
- Excellent communication and written skills
