Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilities and Equipment Management:
  • Ensure uninterrupted and optimal safe operation of company facilities and laboratory equipment, maintaining alignment between equipment capacity and business requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
  • Provide rapid troubleshooting and maintenance solutions across diverse pilot lab equipment (bioreactors, disc stack centrifuges, clean room operations) and supporting utilities including Reverse Osmosis Deionized (RODI) water systems, Compressed Dry Air (CDA), and related infrastructure with the aim to reduce downtime.
  • Cost Optimization and Efficiency:
  • Identify, recommend, and implement cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements, continuously evaluating facility operations and equipment performance to optimize resource utilization.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management:
  • Oversee relationships, negotiations, and contracts to ensure cost-effective, reliable service delivery. Evaluate performance and manage vendor / contractor selection processes.
  • Equipment Procurement and Assessment:
  • Leverage expertise in used equipment resellers and auction markets to evaluate and recommend equipment acquisitions. Assess pricing accuracy and risks associated with purchasing pre-owned laboratory equipment.
  • SOP Development and Compliance:
  • Develop, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to equipment and facility use. Ensure robust employee training programs and enforce adherence to SOPs through routine audits and compliance checks.
  • Contamination Control and Good Lab Practices:
  • Ensure rigorous contamination control practices are implemented and maintained. Provide oversight and training in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) to ensure lab operations meet quality and compliance standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, Facility Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing facilities and equipment in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting biotechnology equipment and supporting utility systems.
  • Strong knowledge of secondary equipment markets, resellers, and auction houses, including price and risk assessment.
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor relationship management.
  • Skilled in developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with SOPs.
  • Experience with contamination control measures and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
